Traffic Types

In the Traffic types view, you manage the traffic types that occur in your organization. The traffic types are connected to log cases through prefixes or other traffic properties. For reporting purposes, there is also functionality to declare if the traffic type is telephony calls, SMS, MMS or data traffic. All traffic types are grouped into traffic categories.


Note: When importing mobile CDR data, some of the imports ask if you want the import to create new traffic types if needed. By default, these new traffic types will be connected to the traffic category you chose when importing. You may when the import is done check if you need to move any traffic type to another category where it better belongs.


How to - Show Traffic Types

  1. Click on the role Invoicing or the role Traffic Monitoring in the navigation menu
  2. Click Dial plan > Manage traffic types
    • A table with traffic types is displayed
    • You can filter out or search for particular traffic types using the toolbar


How to - Create a New Traffic Type

  1. Click on add Icon Add.png
  2. Enter a name
  3. Select the node type
  4. Select a traffic category
  5. Define the content type, i.e. Call traffic, Data traffic, SMS, MMS or Fee
  6. If the traffic type is not in use at the moment, check do not use type
  7. Click save
    • The traffic type is created, and two expandable fields are displayed:
      • Underlying log cases shows the log cases that are already connected to the traffic type (empty for new traffic type)
      • Add log cases is used to add log cases to the traffic type


How to - Edit a Traffic Type

  1. Click on the name of the traffic type you want to edit
    • The Edit traffic types view is displayed
  2. Change the appropriate fields
    • Two expandable fields are displayed.
      • Underlying log cases shows the log cases that are already connected to the traffic type
      • Add log cases is used to add log cases to the traffic type


How to - Move Traffic Types to a new Traffic Category

  1. Check the boxes for the traffic types you want to move
  2. Click the icon Icon Links.png to open the action menu in the toolbar above the table, and select move to category
    • Chose the new category in drop down list
    • Click on move


How to - Add Log Cases to a Traffic Type

  1. Click on the name of the traffic type you want to add log cases to
    • The Edit traffic types view is displayed
  2. Expand Add log cases by clicking on expand Icon Expand.png
  3. Enter information in the fields code or start in code series
  4. Enter the name or description of the log case
  5. Select the loggable field in the traffic data to use to match against
  6. Select a country for the log cases
  7. Select a node for the log cases
  8. Choose a method for adding log cases:
    • Add new log cases and update existing - if you want to update the previously logged data
    • Add new log cases and don't update existing - if the change is to apply from now on
  9. Click on save
    • The log case is added to Underlying log cases
    • You can add multiple log cases if needed


How to - Change Log Case in Traffic Type

  1. Click on the name of the traffic type you want to change log cases on
    • The Edit traffic types view is displayed
  2. Expand Underlying log cases by clicking on expand Icon Expand.png
  3. Click on the name of the log case you want to change
  4. Edit the information in the appropriate fields
  5. Click on save


How to - Delete a Traffic Type

  1. Check the box for each traffic type you want to delete
  2. Click the icon Icon Links.png to open the action menu in the toolbar above the table, and select delete
    • The traffic type is immediately deleted


Note: Only traffic types without log cases can be deleted and are marked as deletable
