Consumption Groups

Consumption groups are used to analyze traffic costs and to discover abnormal consumption on an individual level. By using consumption groups with defined normal ranges for call traffic, there is no need to do audits for a period as long as costs stay within the ranges provided.

In order to do the analysis for persons in Pro 9, they need to be members of consumption groups. These settings are made in the function persons. A person can only be member of one consumption group. The person also needs to be associated with one or several objects.

Consumption groups are defined in Pro 9 according to your needs and preferences. For each consumption group, a range of normal call volumes and costs are defined. This means a highest and lowest value for traffic costs per object type: fixed telephony (extensions), mobile telephony (mobile subscriptions), Centrex, and so on.

A default consumption group is created on installation. This group cannot be removed, but ranges may be changed. All new persons added to Pro 9 will be members of the default group unless otherwise defined.

Reports based on consumption groups are available both in the function Traffic Reports (the Follow up on consumption group report) and in the Verification Tool. These reports show deviations from the defined ranges, such as if call costs are higher or lower during the selected period than the ranges defined in the consumption groups.
