Simulation
The Simulation view is primarily used to enter traffic data for periods that for some reason are missing logged data. Errors in the PBX or disturbances during logging may result in errors in the logging of traffic data. By using the simulation function, billing can still be performed with simulated costs that are very similar to the normal traffic costs.
A simulation is performed by fetching historical data from an earlier similar and correctly logged period and applying that data to a day or period where data is missing. Simulation can either be done on a day-by-day or day template basis.
Simulation | Effect | Example |
Day-by-day | Historical data is copied and pasted on the same type of day | This means that a logged Friday is used to simulate a Friday, a Saturday will simulate a Saturday, in the simulated period. |
Day template | Historical data is selected date for date and is applied regardless of weekday | Traffic data is missing on a Friday that was a half-day. You then search for a logged date that also was a half-day. Which weekday the logged data is for is ignored. |
How to - Show the Simulate View
- Click on the role Invoicing in the navigation tree
- Click on Simulations > Simulate cost for any days missing call data in the navigation tree
- The Simulation view is shown to the right
How to - Show how Many Days that Need Simulated Data
- Select a country
- Select a period
- Only periods that are not closed are available for selection
- If you don't want to simulate data on weekends, check the exclude weekends box to show a correct number of days that need simulation
- Click on show
- A table is displayed below the selection
- Node shows the nodes that have been logged during the period
- Number of calls indicates the number of logged calls for each node
- Number of days that need simulation shows the number of days that are missing log data for each node
- A table is displayed below the selection
- Click on show graph
if you want to view a graph with the logged data
- The bar chart graph shows the call distribution during the period - logged data is green, simulated data is red
How to - Simulate Data
- To select what node to simulate data for, click on edit simulation
next to the node
- The Simulation view for that node is displayed
- Select the period you want to simulate data for in the dropdown menu
- Define a number to filter the period to show all days where the number of calls is lower than the number stated in the field display days where number of calls is less than
- If the field is left empty, all days for the period will be shown
- Click on show to update the table
- All days that have more than the stated number of calls are removed from the table, and simulation may be performed for the remaining days
- Select days to simulate by checking the box to the left in the corresponding row
- Select simulation method; Day-by-day or Day template (descriptions above)
- Select period or dates to base the simulation on:
- Select a start date
- Select an end date (day-by-day only)
- Click on show a detailed report for the whole interval if you want to view a detailed report for the period
- The report is displayed in a separate window
- Click on add day(s)
to add dates or periods to base the simulation on
- For a day-by-day simulation, a period may be selected
- For a day template simulation you can select several separate dates to generate a typical average day
- Click on execute the simulation
- The simulation is performed immediately, and when it is done the simulated days get a check in the simulated box
How to - Delete Simulated Data
Only data that has been simulated can be removed. Logged or imported data cannot be removed in this tool.
- Select a country
- Select a period
- Only periods that are not closed are available for selection
- Click show
- A table is displayed below the selection
- Click on edit simulation
on the node for which you want to delete simulated data
- Click on delete
next to the days where you want to delete the simulated data
- The simulated data is removed immediately
