Service Type

The service type defines how a booked service is billed, i.e. if it is a one time cost or a subscription cost.

There are three service types:

  • Single payment service (fixed) - The cost is fixed, i.e. the same every time the service is booked, and it is only billed once per booking. If you want to apply the cost several times, you need to make a separate booking for each occurrence. The type Single payment service (fixed) is e.g. used for installations or connection setups.
  • Single payment service (variable) - The cost is variable, i.e. it is set when booking the service, and it is only billed once per booking. If you want to apply the cost several times, you need to make a separate booking for each occurrence. The type Single payment service (variable) may for example be used for repairs, consultancy fees or other one time charges that have a varying price.
  • Subscription service - A fixed cost is billed once each period, from the start date to the end date. The type Subscription service may for example be used for support or subscription charges. How to handle costs related to subscription services that are booked or cancelled in the middle of a period is controlled by configuration settings.
