Import of Attributes on Organization Groups

In this view you can import attributes and attribute values to set on the organization groups.

The attribute values that are imported can be set on an existing attribute or on a new attribute that you can name in the import interface.

Note: It is not possible to create new organization groups by importing attribute values on organization groups.

How to - Show the Import of Attributes View

  1. Click on the role Organization Management in the navigation tree
  2. Select Organization structure > Manage main groups
  3. Click Navigate for the main group you want to import attribute values to
  4. Select Import attributes and values in the Links menu Icon Links.png

How to - Prepare the Import File

  1. Open a new text file
  2. Start each row with the name of one of the organization groups you want to set an attribute value on
  3. After the name on each row, tab to add attribute values
    • Note that there must always be the same amount of tabs for values on different rows to be set on the same attribute
    • The top row in the file can be used for column headers, e.g. defining the name of the attribute
    • The same number of values must be added on each row
    • To set values on an attribute that is not created, simply add the values in a separate column and you will later be able to connect them to a new attribute using the import interface
  4. Save the file

Note: If there are many organization groups, you can create the import file in Excel and save it as tab separated text file.

How to - Import Attributes and Values on Organization Groups

Before starting an import, make sure you have the proper import file available on your computer.

  1. Select the type of organization groups to import on in the select type drop down menu
  2. Click choose file... to browse to and select the file to import the attributes from
  3. Disregard the owner menu
  4. Disregard the create new objects if not existing box - no new organization groups can be created by importing attributes
  5. If the first row in the import file contains column headings, check the box first row contains names
  6. Click upload
  7. The result is shown below:
    • In the row named new, check the box if the attribute is new and add a name for the new attribute in the text field
    • In the row named type, select type date, integer, checkbox, text field or drop down list for the new attribute
    -If drop down list is chosen the attribute values in the import file will populate the values to the drop down list
    Note! This will only happen the first time when the attribute is created, additional future list values is entered via manage attributes
    • In the row named connect to, select for each existing attribute what attribute to connect these values to
    • If you only want to add new attribute values, and not update existing values or delete any values, check the only new box
  8. Click the save button to save the import
